Before Installing WordPress
It’s important to note that before you can install WordPress, you will need a domain name and web hosting. Read my tutorial on how to register a domain name (and get one for free) for details.
For your domain and web hosting, I strongly recommend you use Bluehost. This is because they give you a free domain, free SSL (to protect your site) and you also get up to 66% discount on your web hosting purchase from them.
Lastly, they are one of the most reliable hosting companies in the world plus they are officially recommended web hosting for WordPress.
You can see that you’re in safe hands with Bluehost.
That said, let’s take a dive into how to install WordPress on your site.
Because I recommend Bluehost (as I’ve been using their service for the past 8 years), I will be showing you how to install WordPress through them.
How to Install WordPress
Bluehost automatically installs WordPress on your domain name when you sign up. Once you login to your Bluehost account, you’ll find your WordPress site under My Sites tab.
You can simply click on Log in button, and it will take you directly to the WordPress admin area.
Except for their Basic Plan, Bluehost also allows you to install WordPress on unlimited sites with all their hosting plans.
Simply click on the Create Site button under My Sites tab to get started.
Next, click on Use WordPress button to proceed.
Now you will be able to see the WordPress installation wizard. Enter your site name and site tagline. Once done, click Next.
Now you will be prompted to select your preferred domain to install WordPress. Make a selection using the dropdown (and you can leave the directory path empty). You can also uncheck one or all of the Helpful Free Plugin just in case you don’t need them. When done, click Next to install WordPress on the selected domain.
The installer will set up your WordPress site, which may take a few moments. After that, you will see a success message with your WordPress site details.
Congratulations, you have successfully installed WordPress on your site. You can now begin customizing your site for use.
You will receive the above details in the screenshot via email too. You can now click on the Login to WordPress button to enter your new site’s admin area.
You can see that WordPress installation isn’t so difficult after all. Using a reliable web hosting service that is specially recommended for WordPress is also key.
That’s why I strongly recommend Bluehost. They make things easier for you plus you can contact their support anytime for assistance that might cost you some money elsewhere.
Now that you have installed WordPress on your site, next is to install a WordPress theme that fits your project.
